When we look back on history of snare drums, they came through transitions of crafting techniques of hallowed one piece drum shell, 1 ply shell,
plywood shell + reinforcement, plywood shell without reinforcement and blockshell. Though is was the pursuit of efficiency, it resulted in creating respective sound by the respective method. Canopus has presented ultimate sound with the hallowed one piece snare drum to the public by the development of Zelkova snare drum.
Also, we have continuously introduced our drums through the research on the various combination of materials, number of plies and reinforcements. It is the beginning of new challenges for Canopus how to take advantage of the characteristic deep sound and pure sound of 1 ply shell. Canopus’ persistence to the sound will become reality by developing sound characters of diversified wood materials.
